VP NOLI PUSHES FOR PNP CRIME LAB MODERNIZATION
May 21, 2008

Vice President Noli 'Kabayan' De Castro cited the Philippine National Police (PNP) Crime Laboratory for making significant achievements despite limitations in financial resources.

Speaking during the 63rd founding anniversary of the PNP Crime Lab recently (May 19), De Castro said making gains in the face of limited funds make the Philippine police investigators the pride of the country.

However, he said limitation in financial resources could prevent the PNP Crime lab from catching up with the latest technologies available to crime laboratories inthe world.

The Vice President raised this concern as he challenged the PNP to meet the growing sophistication of crimes and criminals.

"Without doubt, the battlefield is in the area of technology," he said.

But in the absence of sufficient funds, he said he was glad to note that the PNP Crime Lab always find itself improvising.

"This is where we measure the creativity, ingenuity and resourcefulness of our investigators," he said.

He said he was proud of the men and women of the PNP Crime Lab because despite the oods, they manage to do their work and deliver what is expected of them.

Meanwhile, De Castro is optimistic that cooperation between the government and the private sector can help in further modernizing the PNP Crime Lab.
