The challenge that the President and the government is facing is the difficult task of ensuring that the people are directly alleviated from poverty brought about by the rise in oil prices and other basic commodities.

While the needed infrastructure must be built, along with the promotion of livelihood and skills training, education and job-generating initiatives, these efforts must be coupled with direct assistance to the people through social services programs. The power and resources of the government must be devoted to social services in order that our countrymen will be directly benefited.

However, we must not rely on the government alone. We must all work together. Along with the private sector in the exercise of its corporate social responsibility, the NGOs and other people's organizations, we should not stop at criticizing the government, we should help find solutions. WE MUST BE PART OF THE SOLUTION. That is my belief. Each Filipino has a responsibility to his family, his community and his country. Be part of the Solution!
