NOLI PERKS UP HOUSING IN NEGROS ORIENTAL
August 11, 2008
Developers in Negros Oriental are upbeat in pursuing more mass housing projects in the province as sales of shelters proved to be high in the locality owing to the support and inspiration provided by Vice President and Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) concurrent chairman Noli 'Kabayan' De Castro.
According to local realtors, the participation of De Castro in housing events such as inauguration and groundbreaking of shelter projects in the locality is sparking encouragement among many Negrenses to acquire their own house and lots.
"The mere presence of the Vice President in these kind of affairs somehow validates the legitimacy of housing projects that eventually become easy to market," they said.
On Wednesday (July 6), De Castro took time to visit Negros Oriental where he led the inauguration and groundbreaking of two socialized housing projects in Bais City and Sibulan.
Engr. Louie Tijing, developer of Bais Highlands in Brgy. Tamisu, Bais City and Northville in Brgy. Boloc-boloc, Sibulan, expressed optimism as to the outcome of his two housing projects following De Castro's attendance in the events. Tijing admitted that last year, all units of his another housing project were sold out after De Castro inaugurated it.
In his speech in Bais Highlands, the developer lauded De Castro for his genuine desire to pursue the national housing program which does not only envigorate the shelter industry but, most importantly, aim to provide shelters for the homeless.
On the same day, De Castro also distributed certificates of lot allocations (CELAs) to beneficiaries of two community mortgage programs (CMPs) in Bais and Dumaguete cities.
Bais City Mayor Hector Villanueva warmly welcomed De Castro in his town and cited the Vice President's role in nation bullding as well as in preserving peace and order in the country.
"There have been many opportunities for our Vice President to become the president of the country but he doesn't want to do it the wrong way," Villanueva, who took time to welcome and send-off De Castro at the Dumaguete airport, said.
Prior to his departure, De Castro completed two palengke tours in Dumaguete and Bais public markets to monitor prices of goods as well as the supply of NFA rice.
Supply of NFA rice was sufficient while prices were stable during the inspection in the two markets, De Castro said.
