VP NOLI CONTINUES GOV'T RELIEF OPERATIONS IN BULACAN RESETTLEMENT AREAS

September 30, 2009

AFTER Laguna, Vice President and Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) chairman Noli 'Kabayan' De Castro proceeded to Meycauyan, Bulacan yesterday (September 29) where he resumed the relief operations of the government for the relocatee victims of Typhoon Ondoy.

De Castro distributed bags of rice and groceries to residents of Southville 3 in Barangay Bayugo where typhoon Ondoy caused floods and rendered the relocation site powerless.

"Those who were not able to line up to get their goods shall have their groceries and rice delivered at their houses," De Castro said.

Three huge trucks full of relief goods were stationed at the basketball court of the relocation site to accommodate the needs of the 6,000 relocated families, according to De Castro.

"No family shall be left unattended. All of them would be given relief goods,” he added.

Despite the knee-high flood water, De Castro motored to Southville 3 to check the condition of the families. He was accompanied by leaders of the key shelter agencies (KSAs) including NHA general manager Frederico Laxa.

The same group is expected to join De Castro when he visits again the government relocation site in Marilao, Bulacan on Friday. Last Sunday the Vice President checked the condition of relocatee victims in Marilao and promised to return with the medical mission team and more bags of rice and relief goods.
