VP NOLI LAUDS GOV'T FINANCE MANAGERS FOR PROTECTING PUBLIC FUNDS
October 6, 2009
VICE President Noli ‘Kabayan’ De Castro lauded finance managers of the government for protecting public funds during the global economic crisis.
Speaking during the first annual convention of the Electronics Financials Users’ Circle (EUC) in Bulacan recently, De Castro said the country survived the much feared global economic crisis because government accountants and auditors did their part in safeguarding the government resources.
“I need to thank you because of the important role that you assumed during the global financial crisis. You are part of the reason why we avoided the serious adverse effects of the crisis.”
At the same time, De Castro cited the revolution in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for improving the performance of government accountants and auditors.
He said the technology derived by EUC members from such revolution helped them to elevate the standards of government financial management.
“By doing so, you elevate the standards of performance among yourselves and help the government and our country protect our scarce financial resources and make sure that these are used solely for purposes provided for and authorized by law and for the benefit of our country men,” he added.
While it is widely believed that the global financial crisis is about to end, De Castro said it is more necessary for the EUC to always be on guard. He called on the financial managers to be more vigilant in protecting public funds since much still has to be done for the country to move forward.
